How to Apply Pageant Makeup on a 3 Year Old By Randall Jenson, eHow Contributor

Girls under 5 years old can have their youth and radiance enhanced with the appropriate use of makeup when preparing for a pageant. These tips work well for any skin tone and compliment your child's look, talents and outfits in her pursuit of becoming an ideal candidate in her next pageant.

Difficulty:
Moderately Easy

Instructions

things you'll need:

  • Small squirrel brush
  • Bronzing powder brush
  • Flat eye shadow brush
  • Angled eyebrow grooming brush
  • Kabuki all-over face brush
  • Foundation
  • Blush powder
  • Brow wax
  • Brow powder
  • Eyeshadow
  • Mascara
  • Nude-colored lip lining pencil
  • Lip pencil
  • Loose finishing powder
  • Facial moisturizer
  • Lip gloss
  1. The face

    • 1

Wash her face and dry it completely with a cloth towel. If needed, gently smooth lotion onto her face.

    • 2

Use your fingers to apply foundation to any areas of her face where there is slight discoloration or reddening.

    • 3

Open the bronzing powder and barely graze the bronzing powder brush over the powder. Tap off any excess into the lid, then circle the bronzer around the apples of her cheeks, down the bridge of her nose and across her forehead.

    • 4

Open the blush and barely graze the small squirrel brush over the powder. Tap off any excess into the lid, then circle the blush around the apples of her cheeks and once over each eyelid. Use the Kabuki brush to blend the blush into her skin by starting with her cheeks and circling the brush outward, into her forehead, temples and jawline.

    • 5

Use the Kabuki face brush to swirl on a generous layer of the loose finishing powder over the entire face, working from the apples of her cheek and outward in a circular motion. This will remove any excess shine, set the makeup and allow her to look soft and beautiful under harsh stage lighting.

    • 6

Trace the edges of her lips with the nude lip pencil. Optionally, color the edges of her lip using a lip pencil, which isn't quite as messy for young girls. If desired, apply some clear lip gloss to the middle of her bottom lip.

    The eyes

    • 1

Dip the angled eyebrow grooming brush into the eyebrow wax. Sculpt her eyebrows by following the natural brow line with the wax, making sure the hairs are all smooth and flowing in the same direction. Take the same brush and dip it into the eyebrow powder. Add it to the start of her eyebrows, near the nose, and allow the color to fade out from there.

    • 2

Dip the angled brow grooming brush into the brow powder again and trace her lash line with it, starting with a wider shape and tapering it to the corners of her eyes. As an additional option, use a flat eyeshadow brush to apply eyeshadow lightly over the eyelids.

    • 3

Apply mascara to the upper lashes by starting at their root and moving the brush back and forth slightly as you comb it through her lashes to coat them.
